Applicants are evaluated by IAR Accredited Certification Bodies
Auditor To renew registration to the Auditor grade, auditors shall submit evidence (Certified by an IAR Accredited Certification Body) of 5 complete management system audits (or any number of partial audits sufficient in total to be equivalent to 5 complete audits) as a member of an audit team or of having acquired equivalent auditing experience. All audits shall be conducted in accordance with the practices described in ISO 19011.
Lead Auditor To renew registration to the Lead Auditor grade, auditors shall submit evidence (Certified by an IAR Accredited Certification Body) of 5 complete management system audits (or any number of partial audits sufficient in total to be equivalent to 5 complete audits). The auditor shall have completed at least 2 of these audits in the capacity of Team Leader.
Continual Professional Development To renew registration, all registered auditors must complete at least 45 hours of acceptable professional development over a 3 year period. Evidence of that professional development shall be properly verified by an IAR Accredited Certification Body and the verification document must be submitted as part of the application for renewal of registration.
In the selection of appropriate professional development, auditors should consider their personal strengths and weaknesses and identify areas for personal improvement. Professional development activities undertaken should in general be focused on principles and practices necessary for improving auditing skills.
